The probiotics found in FEED –Why they work so well.
Saccharomyces boulardii (SB) - Why It’s So Good:
- Improves gut lining integrity (helps reduce leaky gut)
- Protects against food poisoning and gut infections
- Balance the microbiome (a healthy balance of good bacteria to pathogenic bacteria is ideal as this assists in healthy digestion, reduced infections and improved immune system)
- SB helps increase protective mucus and Immunoglobulin A (IgA), which helps to reduce the severity of food sensitivities and allergies as well as immune reactions (cramping, diarrhoea, fatigue).
Helps fight Candida in the gut
SB reduces the growth of candida populations by making a bi-product called capric acid that is toxic to Candida, but not to the good bacteria in the gut.
Antibiotic-resistant probiotic
SB protects against antibiotic-induced diarrhoea (AAD) and traveller’s diarrhoea and is one of the few antibiotics that is not killed by antibiotics or the stomach acid, making it one of the most stable and effective probiotics available.
We use only the best SB
We use a trademarked species that has been researched in great depth and shown to protect the gut from pathogens, support healthy immune function and help the body cope better with stress, having a positive impact on both the nervous system and the gut.
Bacillus coagulans (BC)
In the past, humans received a large number of natural probiotics from the soil as they worked the land and were less inclined to clean the produce like we do today. Combine the lack of exposure to soil-based probiotics with the use of pesticides and a highly refined and processed diet and you have the reason for the increasing number of people who struggle with gut problems.
Bacillus coagulans (BC)is a spore-forming bacteria also referred to as a soil-based probiotic. Spore-forming probiotics are the most resilient probiotics as they Survive the low pH of the stomach opposed to most other probiotics. They are also heat stable and do not need refrigeration.
The research
It has been trialled extensively in humans in recent years and has been shown to have a wonderful impact on improving digestive capacity and reducing inflammation in the gut while being better tolerated in sensitive individuals than other commonly used probiotics.
Had a negative response to conventional probiotics before? (If it’s bloating or diarrhoea, spore-forming probiotics might suit you better!)
BC promotes healthy intestinal motility and relieves both constipation and diarrhoea. It also reduced significantly stomach rumbling, stomach pain and bloating in several clinical trials involving IBS and SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth) patients.
Assists digestive processes by directly producing digestive enzymes,
supporting the health of mucous linings of the GIT and assisting excretion processes
Effectively reduces abdominal pain
Did you know?
BC encourages the release of the short-chain fatty acids valerate and butyrate, from colonic bacteria, increasing dopamine and serotonin levels in the blood and the brain. This reduces anxiety and can also help with motivation, as dopamine is the ‘reward hormone’ and makes us feel extra pleased with ourselves for ticking that last task off the to-do list.
Only the best is used in FEED
BC30™ is a trademarked strain that has shown to prevent pathogen adhesion in the gut and improve digestion of carbohydrates and protein, by releasing lactic acid and other metabolites that regulate pH in the small intestine.
- Having a slightly acidic pH in the small intestine is crucial to managing the balance of populations in the microbiome and ensuring proper digestion of food.
- Having a high or neutral intestinal pH allows bad (from foods or opportunistic bacteria already living in your gut) bacteria to thrive and it reduces your ability to absorb nutrients from the food you eat
These ingredients can be found alongside Partially Hydrolysed Guar Gum and Acacia gum in our product Feed.
Vegan vitamin D3 and K2
Vitashine is a special oily extract of Lichen. It is naturally rich in Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) and fatty acids. The wonderful world of lichens.
Lichens are small unique plant species consisting of a symbiotic association of a fungus with an alga. This gives them unique attributes such as surviving in extreme climates and having the ability to grow and accumulate meaningful levels of useful nutrients, including Cholecalciferol. There are many different species of Lichen, and we work with a carefully selected strain following extensive research and development into natural sources of Vitamin D3.K2: The best source of K2 and why we added K2
The bacteria in our gut cannot produce enough vitamin K2 alone and combining K2 with D3 helps to regulate calcium in the body, keeping it from the cardiovascular system while driving it to the bones. We use the only active form of K2 available ensuring maximum absorption plus providing a hemostatic, anti-osteoporotic, and antioxidant activities. vitaMK7® is the optimal vitamin K2 product, with more than 99% all-trans menaquinone-7 (MK7).

What makes our products so special? It’s in the prebiotics we’ve carefully selected.
The prebiotics we use in FEED have a large amount of research behind them.
As a naturopath I have been researching prebiotics for over 12 years and have found the most effective prebiotics available. They are effective in terms of improving your microbiome and increasing all the beneficial bacteria in the gut as well as reducing leaky gut and inflammation which in turn reduces a myriad of other issues.
- Our carefully selected prebiotics are FODMAP friendly so they are more suitable for people with gut issues or sensitive guts as they are less likely to cause bloating.
- Some prebiotics such as inulin, GOS and FOS tend to cause bloating in people with sensitive guts and for this reason we have not included these in our powder FEED
- Our prebiotics are flavourless and dissolve easily into water
Partially hydrolysed guar gum (PHGG): What’s so special about it?
PHGG is able to increase the number of key species Like Lactobacilli and Bifidobacteria which in turn helps:
- Immune function
- Improve the integrity of the gut lining, preventing and reducing leaky gut/gut permeability, which in turn can reduce food sensitivities and gut-derived inflammation
- Reduce bloating
- Reduce cholesterol
- Reduce toxins in the body
- PHGG is fantastic for regulating bowel motility and improving the consistency of stool, making it easier to pass.
- PHGG can reduce gas, bloating and stomach pain associated with food reactions, IBS and Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO).
- PHGG increases Short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) production to regulate inflammatory responses in the body, maintain healthy gut lining, boost immune function and support mental health.
Consuming PHGG can be effective in the treatment of dysbiosis (an imbalance of gut bacteria) and small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) as it nourishes and supports the growth and activity of beneficial bacteria, including Lactobacilli and Bifidobacteria, while reducing harmful bacteria levels
Why Acacia gum
- Supplementing with Acacia Gum can reduce pain and bloating and improve overall intestinal comfort within 4 weeks of daily supplementation.
- Boosts the populations of beneficial yeasts and bacteria in the gut which in turn will improve the immune system, the gut barrier and reduce inflammation, bloating, cholesterol and toxins in the body.
- Supplementing with Acacia gum prevents the growth of bacteria that can cause illness, such as the Clostridium family.
- Acacia gum can reduce the severity of stomach and duodenal ulcers.
- Acacia gum can improve the symptoms of mild allergies and food sensitivities and even improve eczema. These actions are due to their ability to restore the gut lining.
- Additionally, Acacia gum significantly improves the production of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs). SCFAs have a role in regulating inflammation in the body, balancing cholesterol and liver function and can have a positive impact on mental health.
