Muse 04 | Renée Rae
We’re thrilled to continue our TGC Muse series with Renée — a photographer, co-founder of In Situ Studio, and mum of two little boys living in the beautiful Northern Rivers on the NSW/QLD border. With a life that blends motherhood, creativity and the rhythm of the outdoors, Renée embodies a style of wellness that feels refreshingly simple, deeply grounded, and shaped by the season she’s in.
Her approach is all about tuning into what truly serves her body and mind — whether that’s rest or movement, fresh air or sunlight, a smoothie in the garden or a quiet glass of wine while cooking dinner. For Renée, wellness lives in the small, in-between moments: opening the windows each morning, resetting the house at night, stepping outside to breathe, reset and feel like herself again. She reflects a philosophy we believe in wholeheartedly — that looking after your gut, your energy and your inner world doesn’t have to be complicated; it simply has to be intentional.
WHAT’S A WELLNESS MYTH YOU USED TO BELIEVE… AND WHAT CHANGED YOUR MIND?
Having children has allowed me to understand that wellness is really about returning to simplicity, tuning into what serves your body and mind and realising that might mean allowing for rest, or allowing for movement, it might mean a green juice, or it might mean a glass of wine while cooking dinner.
WHAT’S A NON-NEGOTIABLE RITUAL YOU DO FOR YOUR BODY — EVEN WHEN LIFE GETS CHAOTIC?
Getting outside! Whether it’s a walk, a coffee in the sun or a few deep breaths of fresh air, being outside resets my energy. It doesn’t have to be a long hike or workout; even five minutes can shift my mood, clear my head and help me to feel more balanced.
WHAT’S THE MOST UNDERRATED PART OF YOUR WELLNESS ROUTINE THAT ACTUALLY MAKES THE BIGGEST DIFFERENCE?
Two things that feel small but make a huge difference in my day: opening the curtains and windows first thing in the morning, and doing a full house reset after dinner. Fresh air and sunlight in the morning helps me feel awake and fresh. At night, when the house is quiet and the boys are asleep, there’s no better feeling than walking out to a clean living space. Clear space, clear mind for me.
I also think it’s important to embrace routines as rituals. In this busy season of life with two small children, my wellness routine needs to be simple. Those often overlooked in between moments are what make up my wellness routine - a quiet coffee, a morning walk, making a smoothie and heading out into the garden or a wine in the kitchen while prepping dinner and weekly snacks. It’s all the little in between moments that make the biggest difference for me.
IF YOU COULD GO BACK AND GIVE YOUR YOUNGER SELF ONE PIECE OF ADVICE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Have confidence in yourself and trust your intuition. You don’t need to have everything figured out all at once - things fall into place when you have trust in yourself.
WHAT’S THE MOST SURPRISING CONNECTION YOU’VE DISCOVERED BETWEEN YOUR GUT AND HOW YOU FEEL MENTALLY OR EMOTIONALLY?
How I nourish myself directly shapes how I feel. Prioritising eating nourishing food and keeping hydrated helps my productivity and mind feel clearer. I’ve made a conscious effort to try and prioritise nourishing my gut and supporting my body through years of breastfeeding, sleep deprivation, motherhood and running a business all at once. I notice when I’m not nourishing myself properly and keeping hydrated, everything feels harder. I’m less productive, my mind doesn’t feel clear and my mood dips.
FINISH THIS SENTENCE: “I FEEL MOST LIKE MYSELF WHEN…”
I’m listening to my intuition!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE THE GUT CØ PRODUCT AND WHY?
I’ve been loving REPAIR as part of my morning ritual, with water and before coffee! It’s an ideal wake-me-up - it helps me feel energised and nourished.
