collagen powder

Article and recipe by Emma Lisa from Eat Nourish Glow

If you want naturally glowing skin, it comes from within. Your skin is one of the largest organs in your body and that outer glow is largely due to the beauty foods and nutrients you consume each and every day. So, if you want beautiful, radiant looking skin (at any age), eating a whole-food based diet and beauty foods rich in collagen is the secret sauce to defying your age.

Collagen is an essential peptide found in the fragments of animal protein and is a vital nutrient needed to maintain and build healthy joints and cartilage in addition to the youthfulness and elasticity of your skin. It's found in the make up of everything from your gut lining, connective tissues, bones, muscles and blood.

Collagen is the building blocks of tissue and comprises three quarters of your skin and a third of the protein in your body. As you age, the existing collagen breaks down, and it gets harder for your body to produce on its own so supplementation becomes essential.

I am always testing out new wholefood and botanically based supplements that can support an otherwise healthy diet and lifestyle. So when I was asked my thoughts on REPAIR by Sydney naturopath, Pernille Jensen of The Gut Co, it quickly got my attention and a tick of approval…

I loved that @thegut.co REPAIR is a naturopathically formulated superfood powder and created by knowledgeable naturopath who has researched the gut microbiome and the relationship between gut function and our wellbeing for the past 12 years. Her supplement, REPAIR, has been thoughtfully crafted to deliver hydrolysed collagen and supply antioxidants, vitamin A, vitamin C, and Zinc, all of which are all essential in supporting natural collagen production in the body. Its definitely a wholesome, beauty food I feel safe taking.

Something else I was impressed by is it that REPAIR is FODMAP friendly, That means it is gentle on sensitive tummies and helpful for many ailments. The powdered supplement has a subtle fruity flavour that is tasty straight up over ice or in smoothies, and lends itself well to being used in raw food desserts, overnight oats or chia pudding.
