Glowing skin is definitely an inside job. The skin is one of the largest organs in the human body and its health, outer glow and vitality stems from the foods and nutrients you consume every day. If you want that radiant, youthful looking skin (at any age), eating a wholefood based diet and foods rich in collagen or the nutrients that support the body's own production is key...
Collagen is an essential peptide found in the fragments of animal protein and is a vital nutrient needed to maintain and build healthy joints and cartilage in addition to the youthfulness and elasticity of your skin. It's found in the make up of everything from your gut lining, connective tissues, bones, muscles and blood. Collagen building blocks comprises three quarters of your skin and a third of the protein in your body. As you age, the existing collagen breaks down, and it gets harder for your body to produce on its own so supplementation becomes essential. As you age, you need a constant supply from natural food sources to look and feel your very best.

Kind words from Emma Lisa
I am always testing out new wholefood and botanically based supplements that can support an otherwise healthy diet and lifestyle. So when I was asked my thoughts on REPAIR by Sydney naturopath, Pernille Jensen of The Gut Cø, it quickly got my tick of approval…
I loved that @thegut.co REPAIR is a naturopathically formulated superfood powder and created by knowledgeable naturopath who has researched the gut microbiome and the relationship between gut function and our wellbeing for the past 12 years. REPAIR has been thoughtfully crafted to deliver hydrolysed collagen and supply antioxidants, vitamin A, vitamin C, and Zinc, all of which are all essential in supporting natural collagen production in the body.
Something else I was impressed by is it that REPAIR is FODMAP and safe for those with gut issues like IBS or GERD. It has a subtle fruity flavour that is tasty straight up over ice or in smoothies, and lends itself well to being used in raw food desserts, overnight oats or chia pudding.
Glow From The Inside Out
Try this super simple tonic on an empty tummy first thing in the morning. This is when your body is most receptive to nutrients and digestion is peaked for the day ahead. You can meal prep by making a batch of the juice and store it in sealed mason jars for up to 2-3 days to make fast work of this tonic. Just be sure to add the collagen only when you are going to drink it. So tangy and tasty!
Morning Collagen Tonic Recipe
-
1 organic lemon, whole including rind
-
1/2 English cucumber, skin off
-
1 large handful Italian (flat leaf) parsley, organic
-
2 green apples, skin off if not organic
-
1 scoop of REPAIR or your choice of collagen powder
Push the ingredients through a high-powered juicer and then stir in your collagen powder. Blend well and pour over ice. Use a straw to enjoy as the acidity from the fruits can be damaging to tooth dentin.
Healthy + happiness,
Emma Lisa xx
