The Science Behind PROTEIN {collagen+WPI}

The Science Behind PROTEIN {collagen+WPI}

Everything we do at The Gut Cø. (TGC) is done with science-backed ingredients that are supplied from the best sources and a thorough understanding of what REALLY gets results.

PROTEIN {collagen+WPI} in vanilla and chocolate are no different, and you will see how beneficial this formula is in so many ways outlined below.

About the Collagen in Our PROTEIN —

The collagen used in all TGC products are hydrolysed amino acid of the smallest molecular weight, making the collagen peptides highly bioavailable (rapidly absorbed by the body). The Bioactive Collagen Peptides have an amino acid and nutritional profile that are free from fat, sugar, cholesterol, purines and additives, and found to be stable in cooking and when exposed to heat.

We have included 3 different types of Bioactive Collagens to:

1. Reduce wrinkles/fine lines, increase skin hydration, elasticity and to strengthen and grow hair and nails.

2. Grow new cartilage for improved joint health and function (improve recovery from injury or wear and tear).

3. Improve bone density.

We use Verisol collagen in PROTEIN which:

  • Increases skin moisture/hydration and reduces wrinkles/fine lines by increasing collagen, elastin and glycosaminoglycans in the dermal layer.
  • Improves appearance of cellulite by increasing dermal thickness and elasticity.
  • Helps counteract age-related skin thinning, reducing crepe-like appearance.
  • Reduces inflammatory processes in the skin.
  • Speeds healing of bedsores in the elderly.
  • Supports healing of stomach ulcerations.
  • Exhibits anti-inflammatory effects in colitis.
  • Increases skin elasticity by up to 15% compared to placebo.
  • Effect measurable after 4 weeks, persisting after 8 weeks of treatment.

Joint Health —

Optimised specific Bioactive Collagens have been proven to stimulate cells to grow new cartilage, easing joint discomfort and enhancing joint smoothness and mobility. These improvements are associated with reduced osteoarthritis symptoms such as pain and stiffness, improved joint function, and reducing progressive wear and tear.

Studies have shown that it may help lower the risk of joint deterioration, reduced post-exercise joint pain in young athletes, and enhanced ankle stability and early signs of joint degeneration.

Bone Health —

Healthy bones require adequate amounts of calcium, magnesium, silicon, vitamin D and K, but collagen also has a positive effect on bone density in addition to the above mentioned nutrients.

We have added a specific bioactive collagen to PROTEIN {collagen+WPI} that has research behind to show that it has the potential to improve bone density and thereby contribute to the reduction of bone fractures.

Whey Protein Isolate Not Concentrate?

We use Whey Protein Isolate (WPI) and NOT Whey Protein Concentrate because it is simply a much higher quality of protein. So what is the difference exactly?

WPI is much higher in protein content (90-95% instead of 70-80%) and is lower in fats and carbohydrates. WPI has a superior flavour and texture, with reduced lactose content, making it more suitable for those with lactose intolerance.

The Health Benefits of Whey Protein Isolate

  • High-Quality Protein Source:
    • Contains all essential amino acids required for muscle repair and growth.
    • Rapidly absorbed and utilised by the body

  • Muscle Growth and Recovery:
    • Promotes muscle protein synthesis, aiding in muscle growth.
    • Helps repair muscle tissues after exercise, reducing recovery time.
  • Weight Management:
    • Supports satiety, helping reduce overall calorie intake.
    • May boost metabolism due to the thermic effect of protein digestion.
  • Improved Athletic Performance:
    • Provides a quick source of protein to fuel and recover from intense workouts.
    • Enhances strength and endurance by supporting muscle maintenance.

  • Supports Immune Function:
    • Contains immunoglobulins and lactoferrin, which can enhance immune response.
    • May help reduce the incidence of infections in physically active individuals.

  • Lactose Intolerance Friendly:
    • Lower lactose content compared to whey protein concentrate, making it suitable for those with lactose intolerance.

  • Blood Sugar Regulation:
    • May help regulate blood sugar levels by slowing down the absorption of glucose.
    • Supports insulin sensitivity, reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes.

  • Cardiovascular Health:
    • Can improve lipid profiles by reducing total and LDL cholesterol.
    • May lower blood pressure due to bioactive peptides that act as ACE inhibitors.

  • Anti-Inflammatory Properties:
    • Contains bioactive compounds that may reduce inflammation in the body.
    • Helps manage chronic inflammation, potentially lowering the risk of various diseases.

  • Bone Health:
    • Supports bone health by providing a rich source of calcium and other minerals.
    • May improve bone density and reduce the risk of osteoporosis.

To summarise, whey protein isolate offers numerous health benefits, including promoting muscle growth and recovery, aiding weight management, supporting immune function, and being suitable for those with lactose intolerance. It also helps regulate blood sugar, supports cardiovascular health, has anti-inflammatory properties, enhances bone health, and improves nutrient absorption. These benefits make it an excellent supplement for athletes, individuals looking to manage their weight, and those seeking to improve their overall health.

We've Added Probiotics and Digestive Enzymes

Bacillus coagulans (BC) is a spore-forming bacteria also referred to as a soil-based probiotic. Spore-forming probiotics are the most resilient probiotics as they Survive the low pH of the stomach opposed to most other probiotics. They are also heat stable and do not need refrigeration.

The Research

It has been trialled extensively in humans in recent years and has been shown to have a wonderful impact on improving digestive capacity and reducing inflammation in the gut while being better tolerated in sensitive individuals than other commonly used probiotics.

Had a negative response to conventional probiotics before? (If it’s bloating or diarrhoea, spore-forming probiotics might suit you better!)

BC promotes healthy intestinal motility and relieves both constipation and diarrhoea. It also reduced significantly stomach rumbling, stomach pain and bloating in several clinical trials involving IBS and SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth) patients.

Assists digestive processes by directly producing digestive enzymes,

supporting the health of mucous linings of the GIT and assisting excretion processes and effectively reduces abdominal pain

We have added digestive enzymes to ensure maximum absorption of the PROTEIN and reduce any tummy discomforts for the most sensitive stomachs.
